Polyphasic Sleep Day 2

  • 0200-0230: Damn it, I forgot to set my alarm and failed to wake up at 0230, this will make switching all the harder, I will have to be sure to set my alarms. I didn't wake up until 0730. I will go ahead and still take naps at the designated time, my body needs to become accustomed to it. I had no problems falling asleep initially
  • 0600-0630: Woke up at 0730, was not awake before this sleep, still tired. I will experiment with sound and light cues some with the next sleep. I am interested to see how my next few sleeps go, now that I have slipped back into monophasic instead of finishing the process of converting to polyphasic it may be even more difficult. Also I am going to be out of the house for my 1000 sleep and possibly my 1400 and I am curious as to how well I will be able to sleep.
  • 1000-1030: I actually manged to sleep rather peacefully in the van, I missed the first five minutes of the sleep due to the fact that I was still in the dentist chair being evaluated. I feel pretty good about this, I am still feeling the effects of the sleep deprivation and I am hoping that the extended sleep won't affect the process of becoming polyphasic.
  • 1400-1430: Falling asleep this time was easy, I had no problems what so ever.
  • 1800-1830: This sleep went of without a hitch, I can feel the effects of sleep deprivation coming on strongly this time, however I do feel somewhat refreshed.
  • 2200-2230: Prior to this sleep I found what I hope will be a useful tool. This MP3 track is designed to help one fall asleep and then wake up, I downloaded the 26 minute track and using Audacity dragged it out the last four minutes of my nap time, it was actually more annoying with its loud white noise through ought the track and the chicken noises designed to wake up the sleeper. Also I found this tool which I will begin using tomorrow. This is another sleep which has gone of effortlessly I am pleased with my apparent progress, even with the accidental over sleep this morning. I have been inspired to create my own sleep track however.

  • I am extremely upset with myself, and it might be silly to be, however forgetting to set my alarms is so stupid its almost childish. I have corrected the problem by setting alarms on an old cell phone to notify when it is time for the nap and when it is time to wake up.

I have found that drinking a cup of tea and eating a slice of bread or toast before napping is helpful with making the nap. Also that I am not as hungry around meal time but need to eat a small snack after waking up.
