Polyphasic Sleep Day 1 - Explanation and start of the log

My reason for starting this schedule is I believe it will be beneficial once I start online classes on the 24th by allowing me more time during the day to spend on classes. The schedule I will be following is known as the uberman schedule and will take some adjusting to, my sleep schedule will be as follows:
  • 0200-0230
  • 0600-0630
  • 1000-1030
  • 1400-1430
  • 1800-1830
  • 2200-2230
I will be considering the "start" of each day the end of my 0200 sleep, and the "end" of each day the start of my 0200 sleep.

  1. 0200-0230: I began the sleep schedule with no success, I did not fall asleep at all, I tried meditating with no luck.
  2. 0600-0630: I fell asleep this time, however I overslept by an hour.
  3. 1000-1030: I decided to skip this sleep since I overslept by an hour.
  4. 1400-1430: I found myself looking forward to this sleep, I assume its because I skipped the 1000. I had almost no problems falling asleep and my alarm woke me up rather gently. I do feel rather refreshed although not entirely, I am hoping that this goes as well as it is said to.
  5. 1800-1830: I was somewhat tired when it came time for this sleep, however I was still rather refreshed from the 1400 sleep. I found myself moving between absent thoughts and sleep erratically through ought this nap.
  6. 2200-2230: I didn't sleep at all because people refused to keep the volume down for a mere 30 minutes, they do not understand the challenges of switching from a monophasic sleep schedule to a polyphasic sleep schedule, especially one with out a "core" sleep. I am beginning to feel the effects of sleep deprivation however I hope to counter them with the first sleep of tomorrow.
